Owasco Yacht Club beach reopens after closure from blue-green algae
The Owasco Yacht Club’s bathing beach, which had been closed since Wednesday after blue-green algae was found, reopened Monday. The closure occurred over the weekend when the algae bloom was found, which prompted officials to test the water. Read More

Family rescued from Canandaigua Lake after boat fire, two children suffer minor injuries
One man and three children were rescued from Canandaigua Lake on Tuesday after their boat became fully-engulfed with flames. Toxic blue-green algae confirmed in Owasco Lake
Officials have confirmed the presence of a toxic blue-green algae bloom on Owasco Lake, the Cayuga County Health Department said Thursday. In a press release, the Health Department said a sample collected near Martin Point had elevated levels of toxins, which can pose a health risk to people and animals. Read More
