Details have emerged in the ATV accident that resulted in one person being transported to an area hospital, while an 11-year-old was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports that Frederick Barres, 50, of Ontario was operating an ATV around his property with his 11-year-old nephew as a passenger when he lost control of the vehicle — ejecting both.
Barres sustained several lacerations to his face and hands, and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The 11-year-old was airlifted to Strong by Mercy Flight and suffered a concussion from the accident. Deputies say he also was suffering from chest pain.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ontario Fire Department and Ontario Town Ambulance. Union Hill Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
