Two rival schools came together for the good of one cause on Sunday.
Throughout the past school year, students with the high school honor societies from the Union Springs and Southern Cayuga school districts have been working within their own schools to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. But those efforts combined Sunday with an end-of-the-year final fundraiser at Union Springs High School, the Walk for Wishes.
The idea came from the Southern Cayuga Honor Society president, Olivia Lounsbury, and Union Springs Honor Society secretary, Anna Hand, to join their individual fundraising goals.
Several fundraisers were held throughout the year with each school raising more than $5,000, far exceeding their combined goal of $6,000.
