An Auburn man is facing criminal charges after allegedly attacking a woman Thursday night, the Auburn Police Department said.
Emmanuel L. Walls Sr., 34, of 273 State St., Apt. 2, was charged with aggravated criminal contempt, a class D felony; obstruction of breathing, third-degree assault, and second-degree criminal contempt, all class A misdemeanors.
Police said Walls attacked a woman around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Cottage and Washington streets. He punched the woman several times, causing bruising and swelling on her mouth, forehead and one of her eyes, and also choked her at one point, police said. A bystander called in the incident. The woman had a previous order of protection against Walls. Another person who was also present during the incident also had an order of protection against Walls.
