The Finger Lakes Area Counseling & Recovery Agency is going to have a larger presence in Yates County, courtesy of a recent donation.
On Thursday, the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes donated more than $25,000 to help FLACRA expand its office and services at the Finger Lakes Economic Development Center on Route 54A.
Tom Snow, who was representing the foundation’s Keuka Area Fund, presented the check to Marty Teller, FLACRA’s executive director.
Yates County ranks second per capita in the state for opiate-related deaths and overdoses. Teller said providing more of the agency’s resources to the community is a FLACRA priority.
“This is one of the most severely affected counties in the state,” Tellier said. “We are saving lives every day. The Community Foundation is helping us achieve the next step for us.”
FLACRA, which has a 2,100-square-foot outpatient clinic at the site of the former Penn Yan Express, will now be able to offer mental health and peer support services. FLACRA will be moving into space on the third floor, tripling its current space.
