In a message to his supporters, Clyde Mayor Jerry Fremouw announced on Wednesday that he would not continue his campaign to be the next Assemblyman representing the 130th district.
He had unsuccessfully attempted to force a primary against Lyons Town Supervisor Brian Manktelow. However, Fremouw vowed to stay in the race.

The Lord is always faithful. Sometimes His answer is a much desired “yes.” Sometimes His answer is a merciful ‘no’. Sometimes His answer is a faith-building ‘not yet’, and sometimes … sometimes when an answer cannot be found, His answer is simply ‘Trust Me’. With that being said, it’s with great disappointment, and some relief, that I am withdrawing from the race for the 130th New York State Assembly District. This was a difficult decision to make, but I am at peace with it. While this campaign has been a fun and educational experience, it has also been financially, physically, and emotionally draining.
I would like to thank everyone who supported, volunteered, and opened their doors to me. I have spent this summer meeting and talking to some great people from all over the District. Although I am withdrawing from this race, we need to remember that the race is long and in the end it is only with ourselves. I will stay involved and continue to be a voice for the people and I’m determined, when the time is right, to consider running again.
I would also encourage everyone to get out and vote, no matter who you are voting for. It is time for a change and the only way we can change the outcome is to change our voting habits. We cannot always vote blind (party lines) and complain about the outcome. We as voters are responsible for the results and where they may lead us.
