The State Department of Agriculture and Markets has lifted a two week quarantine at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack.
Due to ‘strangles’ officials at FLGR and a separate off-track training stable had to be shut down for two weeks.
The Equine Disease Communication Center says both facilities were released Monday from the mandated biosecurity precautions that had been imposed since the middle of the month after a horse became critically ill after leaving the track July 8th.
The infected horse remains quarantined, but is continuing to recover.
Strangles is known as ‘Equine Distempter’ is a contagious upper-respiratory tract bacterial infection that can produce coughing, nasal discharge, and fever.
