With the Fourth of July falling in the dead-center of the work week, a handful of fireworks displays in the Finger Lakes are being held this weekend. Check out our comprehensive list of all the fireworks displays on-tap in the region…
Friday, July 6
Groton – This year’s fireworks display will be held at Groton Elementary School on Friday, July 6th with a rain date of Sunday, July 8th. This event is free to the public, and everyone is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, as seating will be across the baseball & softball fields. These fireworks can also be seen around Groton from various locations.
Watkins Glen – After enjoying “Friday on Franklin” and getting your fill of wine and food, enjoy the spectacular sight of the fireworks that will be shot off at Clute Memorial Park on the southern end of Seneca Lake in Watkins Glen at 9:30 PM.
Saturday, July 7th
Fair Haven – After a week of celebration, there will be a car show, 5K race, and music on Saturday, July 7th in Fair Haven, followed by a Wall of Fire display at 9:15 PM and a wonderful fireworks show at 10 PM to cap off the event.
Seneca Falls – The highlight of CanalFest weekend, the display will begin at 10:00 pm over VanCleef Lake in downtown Seneca Falls.
Tuesday, July 3
Auburn – This annual fireworks display at Emerson Park will be held the night before the 4th of July, with a rain date of July 8th. There is a $5 parking fee at Emerson Park, where there will be musical entertainment leading up to the fireworks at dusk. Fireworks can be viewed from the comfort of your own boat out on Owasco Lake as well.
Clarkson/Sweden – Fireworks and parade will be held July 3rd at the Clarkson Community Center. On July 4, a Fourth of July celebration will be held at the historic Morgan-Manning House.
Conesus Lake Ring of Fire – The public can participate in an old Seneca tradition at Conesus Lake, which has grown into a local Independence Day tradition. Residents light flares at 10 p.m. along the entire shoreline of the lake, followed by fireworks displays up and down the lake.
Farmington – A live band will perform in the town park (985 Hook Road) beginning at 6:30 p.m. as well as food vendors. Fireworks will begin at dark.
Geneva – The American Legion in Geneva will host the annual Carnival & Fireworks show. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and fireworks will be held at 10 p.m. A parade will be held on the Fourth of July.
Honeoye – Fireworks will be held at Sandy Bottom Beach Park at dark. The beach is on the north end of Honeoye Lake off Country Road 36.
Ithaca – This annual celebration of the 4th of July will be held on Tuesday, July 3rd, with a rain date of Thursday, July 5th. There will be food trucks and musical entertainment at Stewart Park in Ithaca before the fireworks display beginning at 6 PM. Another great place to view this display is from Cass Park (music & food will be available here as well) or while on your boat on Cayuga Lake. The fireworks will launch from Newman Municipal Golf Course.
Sodus Point – Events include an auto parade that begins at 7 p.m. on Sentell Street to Route 14 then down Bay Street to “The Loop” and fireworks at 10 p.m at Sodus Bay channel pier. Events on the Fourth of July include an arts and crafts show at the Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum and a parade.
Wednesday, July 4
Branchport – This old-fashioned, small-town celebration begins at noon with a chicken barbecue and music at the Branchport Firehouse, followed by the Main Street parade in Branchport at 2 PM. A community fireworks display will be held at 10 PM behind the Finger Lakes Museum Discovery Campus.
Canandaigua – Celebration will include a parade that begins at 10 a.m., live music, and fireworks at 9:45 p.m.
Candor – Get ready for this multi-day celebration beginning with a parade at 10 AM on July 4th, a chicken BBQ, and carnival. This event continues every day through Saturday, with a daily carnival and other fun family activities, a huge fireworks display on the night of Friday, July 6th, and a car show on Saturday, July 7th.
Corning – This annual celebration will begin at the Corning Memorial Stadium with concerts at 7 PM and 8:30 PM. A fireworks show will follow at 9:45 PM over the Chemung River.
Rochester – Annual fireworks display at 10 p.m. Festivities, including music, will start at 7:30 p.m. Rochester Red Wings will hold post-game fireworks at Frontier Field
Genesee Country Village & Museum will hold an old-fashioned independence day celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Includes performances from the Geneseo Cornet Band, a parade, the reading of the Declaration of Independence, and the firing of an anvil several hundred feet into the air.
