On one of the hottest race days in Watkins Glen International history, Stephen Simpson picked the perfect time to make the Red Dragon breathe fire.
Simpson catapulted the fire-red No. 99 JDC-Miller Motorsports GAINSCO Auto Insurance ORECA LMP2 from third to first with an aggressive inside pass with about 35 minutes to go Sunday afternoon, sending his three-driver team to a victory in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International.
The maneuver was completed on the back straight just after a restart following the final caution flag in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship event.
