Construction to start for Tompkins Center for History and Culture

Construction will soon start for a collaborative project that will provide a new, larger and more aesthetic home for The History Center in Tompkins County and several other organizations.

The Tompkins Center for History and Culture will be located at 110 North Tioga St., which once housed Tompkins Trust Company.

Once construction is completed, the location will house the County Convention and Vistors Bureau’s Downtown Visitors Center (a division of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce) and The History Center on the first floor as well as a large meeting room that will also serve as an exhibit space for the Community Arts Partnership. Offices for the Wharton Studio Museum, the Dorothy Cotton Institute, the Christopherson Center, and the Community Arts Partnership will be on the second and third floors.
