Cayuga Community College's tuition will increase by 2.5 percent for the fall semester.
The bump was approved by the college's board of trustees at a meeting Thursday night. The institution's proposed operating budget from September 2018 to August 2019 will be $29,721,956. Cayuga County's sponsor's share will be $3,030,736. The 2017-2018 budget was $29,677,076, with a 1 percent tuition increase for that year.
College president Brian Durant said the budget was built on a flat enrollment rate — 2,550 full-time equivalents "from one year to the next." Durant said the administration felt "it is responsible for us to create a budget on a similar target for next year."
"Ultimately, we believe it is responsible and realistic based on enrollment projections," Durant said.
Daniel DoBell, CCC's vice president for administration and treasurer, said after the meeting the tuition hike was largely due to contractual increases.
Tuition for full-time enrollment students —12 to 19 credit hours — will be $4,658. Part-time enrollment — one to 11 credit hours — will cost $194 per credit hour.
