Dryden girl’s suspension for dress code violation lessened after mom’s Facebook video

Twenty-four hours after Freeville mom Erin Kidney posted a live video asking Facebook users how she should react to her 17-year-old daughter’s two-day suspension from school due to a dress code violation, she was inundated with opinions.

And the suspension, the Kidneys were later told after the video had been posted, was lessened to one day, the school said the two-day suspension mentioned in the letter they received was a typo.

Over 15,000 people have viewed the video, it’s been shared 99 times on Facebook and a string of over 100 comments from Kidney’s friends and family — as well as complete strangers — has generated a volatile online conversation that started with a short-sleeved shirt.
