Waterloo town supervisor pleads guilty to a pair of charges

Waterloo Town Supervisor Don Trout has pleaded guilty to a pair of vehicle and traffic charges in connection with a December incident.

Trout, 33, of Route 96, Waterloo, pleaded guilty Wednesday night in town court to leaving the scene of a property damage accident and moving from lane unsafely.

Tickets for unreasonable speed and driving across hazard markings were dismissed.

Trout was fined $214 for the two tickets, and docked $93 in surcharges for each ticket. He paid the $400 Wednesday night.

Seneca County sheriff’s deputies charged Trout Dec. 22 after a one-car accident near River Road and Route 96A. A vehicle — it was determined later that Trout was the driver — hit a telephone pole, bringing down wires that blocked the roadway.
