Trumansburg schools enforced a lockout and a hold-in-place for 45 minutes on Wednesday because of an alleged school threat.
Kimberly Bell, superintendent of the Trumansburg Central School District, said officials from a neighboring school district told Trumasburg school officials Wednesday morning that a post on social media contained a video of a student with a handgun in a school restroom.
"We immediately followed our safety protocols," Bell said. Buildings were put on alert and went into a lockout and hold-in-place, Bell said.
"Within minutes, we had the presence of the Trumansburg Police Department, Tompkins County and New York State Police to assist us with our investigation," Bell said.
Bell said she was pleased to report the video originate from the school district.
"Law enforcement has confirmed there is no threat and no students' health, safety or welfare was or has been in jeopardy," Bell said.
Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the incident.
