UNBEATABLE: Midlakes girls capture first Sectional Championship since 1975 (full game video)

The Midlakes girls entered the 2018 postseason with a perfect 20-0 record. Four games later in the Section V Class B Tournament they are still undefeated and now can call themselves Sectional Champions for the first time since 1975. Head Coach Nate Rich’s Screaming Eagles absolutely destroyed Bath-Haverling on Saturday evening at Rush-Henrietta rolling the the title with a 70-40 win in a game that wasn’t close from the start.

After Bath-Haverling’s Jadyn Abrams opened the game’s scoring, Midlakes would close the 1st quarter on a 24-4 run and extended their lead to 41-19 heading into halftime before finishing the contest with a 30 point margin.

Section V’s leading scorer, Midlakes junior Alaina Forbes, was absolutely spectacular opening the game with a pair of three pointers and finishing with a game-high 34 points, 32 of them coming in the games first three quarters. At one point in the 3rd period, Forbes had more points than the entire Bath-Haverling team.

Midlakes freshman Cara Walker finished with 13 points while junior Macy Kisner added 6. Midlakes lone seniors Claire DeBoover and Jordan Naeye finished with 5 and 4 points respectively as the school and Clifton Springs and Phelps communities celebrated the Section V Class B Championship.

Midlakes now advances to the Far West Regional game of the NYSPHSAA play-offs where they will meet the Section 6 Class B champion on Saturday back at Rush-Henrietta High School.
