Seneca Falls Women’s Coalition honors Elizabeth Becht as Woman of the Year

Retired teacher Elizabeth Becht will be honored as Woman of the Year by the Seneca Falls Women’s Coalition.

A Seneca Falls native, Becht graduated from Mynderse Academy and received a degree in physical education and recreation from State University College at Brockport. She returned to her hometown and taught physical education at the middle and high schools for 33 years before retiring. She still works as a substitute teacher.

Becht is an active volunteer with Relay For Life and is an active member of the Seneca Falls Rotary Club. She is a past president and current board member for Rotary and has worked on the club’s ice cream, Red Book Shelf and Chocolate Extravaganza programs.

She enjoys playing cribbage, having lunch with other retired teachers and playing with her four grandchildren.
