Woman sentenced to prison for robbing store, forging checks in Auburn

A Port Byron woman will spend some time in prison for robbing a cell phone store and forging checks in Cayuga County.

Last month, 20-year-old Courtney Donovan, of 8475 Baptist Hill Road, pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree robbery and one count of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, both class D felonies. At the time, she admitted to robbing Fast Trak Wireless in June and forging at least two checks a few days later.

In Cayuga County Court Thursday, Donovan apologized for her actions and said she had "spiraled out of control." She cried as defense attorney Joseph Sapio discussed the difficult past which led to her arrest.
