NEW DETAILS: Eight companies assist at Lodi structure fire along Seneca Lake

Sheriff Tim Luce provided an update on Monday to the structure fire, which prompted a response from around Southern Seneca County on Friday.

Deputies were dispatched to 9180 Rhodes Road around 12:16 p.m. on Friday for a reported structure fire at the Lodi residence.

Upon arrival, deputies reported flames coming from the roof of the structure. The Lodi Fire Department was first on-scene, but was assisted by Ovid, Interlaken, Romulus, Hector, Trumansburg, Enfield, and Burdett fire departments.

Luce says that Seneca County Codes and the Seneca County Fire Investigation Team was also called to the scene immediately.

The fire was quickly extinguished and damaged to the home was kept to the chimney and roof area. Investigators determined that the cause of the fire was accidental and originated in the chimney of the home.

The home was occupied and insured by the owners, according to Luce.

Crews in Southern Seneca County are responding to 9180 Rhodes Road for a working structure fire.

Lodi, Interlaken, and Ovid fire departments were dispatched to the Rhodes Road structure.

Scanner traffic indicated that a tanker task force was requested to the scene.

First responders were having a difficult time getting down the road when responding.

Enfield Fire Department stood by for Interlaken while they were at the scene. Burdett Fire Department was also requested to the scene with manpower and an engine.

A fire investigation team was called to the scene approximately 50 minutes after the call came in to E-911.
