Bloomfield resident charged with obtaining assistance illegally

Deputies in Ontario County arrested a Bloomfield resident after an investigation into illegally obtained public assistance benefits.

Investigators charged Lorraine Rushman, 46, of Bloomfield with petit larceny after she failed to report another household member who was previously listed as a non-working member, who then began working and receiving income.

The illegally reported household member was receiving income between December 1st, 2015 and February 29th, 2016, according to deputies.

Rushman received more than $500 worth of benefits that she would not have received if the income were disclosed.

She was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charge at a later date.
