Major warm up coming this week in the FLX

How about a warming trend?

By the middle of this week it’s going to feel like mid-spring in the Finger Lakes — as high-temperatures push through the 60s. Some locations in the central and southern portion of the region may see temperatures that near 70 degrees.

It will be a big change from Sunday morning lows, which started in the 20s. By Monday temperatures will be pushing 50 degrees, with another 10-15 degrees of warmth expected on Tuesday and Wednesday.


While the end of the week features a cool down, which will bring temperatures back into the 30s for a day or two — the trend after that is for more 40s than 30s.

As FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil pointed out last week — it doesn’t mean winter is over, but as we continue toward March the trend looks similar to what we’re going to be experiencing this week. It means warmer-than-normal temperatures, with more mild- 40-degree days possible.

Here’s a look at the week ahead according to the National Weather Service:

Occasional showers, mainly after 2pm. High near 50. Breezy, with a south wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.


A chance of showers, mainly before 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 69. South wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.


Showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. Chance of precipitation is 70%.


Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39.


A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 44. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
