Mynderse holds on to edge Clyde-Savannah; Midlakes girls now 9-0 (W-FL round-up 12/28)

In a highly anticipated boys varsity basketball game between a pair of state ranked Wayne-Finger Lakes teams, Mynderse held on to edge Clyde-Savannah 73-72 in the fourth game of a quadruple-header at New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls on Thursday.

Mynderse held a 12 point lead heading into the fourth quarter but barely held on for the 1 point win after Marcus Chance exploded for 31 points, all in the game’s final three quarters. Teammate and brother Derrick Chance scored 14 points in the loss. For Mynderse, Hunter Haust scored 22 points and senior point guard Kellen Caraher had 14. Mynderse improved to 7-0 with the win while the Golden Eagles fell to 5-2. Check out the full webcast replay of this game here.

NE DOUGLAS 47 vs WAYNE 62 (Wayne Tournament Title Game)
Wayne’s Nick Carmichael scored 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds while Logan Blankenberg added 20 points and 16 rebounds. Billy Thompson added 7 points and 5 rebounds as the Eagles improve to 6-1. Blankenberg was named Tournament MVP with 64 points in the two games at Wayne High School.

MIDLAKES 65 vs LYONS 72 (NYCC Holiday Classic)
Bryce Burri scored 30 for Midlakes in the loss while Lyons was led by Justice Smith who scored 30 as well.

SOUTH SENECA 43 vs WATERLOO 64 (NYCC Holiday Classic)
Derek Slywka scored 30 points as Waterloo recorded their first win of the season. South Seneca was led by John Zajac who finished with 21 points.

Mynderse was led by Mary Doell with 16 points and 4 steals. Hannah Brown Trice chipped in with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals. Heidi Miller added 13 points and 5 assists. Madison Barnett led Mynderse with 8 assists. Red Creek was led by Isabella Wilbur with 17 points and Sierra Fernaays added 7 points.

GENEVA 59 @ EDISON TECH 56
Geneva was led by Lauren DeVaney with 21 points and 12 rebounds. McKenzie Moore added 11 points and 4 assists and Treasure Bruce scored 9 and recorded 7 steals for Panthers’ head coach Ed Collins.

CORCORAN 52 @ MIDLAKES 62
Midlakes was led by Alaina Forbes who finished with 29 points and freshman Cara Walker with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Macy Kisner pulled down 8 rebounds and Jordan Naeye recorded 6 assists. Midlakes is 9-0 and Corcoran is 1-5. Midlakes travels to Gananda on Saturday.
