The state Department of Environmental Conservation has recently completed a habitat management plan for the Lake Shore Marshes Wildlife Management Area in the towns of Huron, Sodus and Wolcott.
The DEC will conduct a public information session from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Montezuma Audubon Center, 2295 Route 89, Savannah.
Lake Shore Marshes is composed of eight units covering some 6,430 acres along Lake Ontario. It provides excellent opportunities for wildlife-dependent recreation such as hunting and bird watching.
DEC officials from Region 8 in Avon said habitat management goals are to maintain a diversity of wetland and upland habitat to benefit a wide range of resident and migrating wildlife species.
“DEC is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing wildlife habitats in the Lake Shore Marshes Wildlife Management Area to benefit declining wildlife species and popular game animals,” said Paul D’Amato, Region 8 director.
