Saying he and others have experienced “orchestrated disrespect and resistance,” Yates County Legislator Mark Morris said he will not actively pursue re-election on the Conservative Party line after losing in a Republican primary.
Morris made the announcement at last week’s Legislature meeting, and later sent his statement to media outlets. In September, he finished fifth in a GOP election for four seats on the county board in District 3, which covers the town of Milo.
Incumbent Leslie Church was the top vote-getter with 190 votes, followed by incumbents P. Earle Gleason (185) and Dan Banach (181). Carlie Chilson (178 votes) got the fourth spot ahead of Morris (156), although his name will be on the November ballot on the Conservative line.
Morris said since losing in the primary he has been thinking about actively pursuing re-election on the Conservative ballot.
