Auburn man sent to prison for setting fire that displaced 16 people, killed two dogs

An Auburn man was sentenced to prison Tuesday for intentionally setting a fire that destroyed a two-family home in Cayuga County.

Ryan Wilson was arrested last year after police said he set fire to his downstairs apartment in Auburn.

At around 3 a.m. Nov. 3, 2016, the Auburn Fire Department responded to a house fire at 7 West St. At the time, Auburn Fire Chief Joe Morabito said 16 people were displaced — 10 people from the upper and lower apartments at 7 West St. and another six people who lived next door. And although none of the residents were injured, two dogs and a hamster died in the fire.
