Two sent to Cayuga Medical Center after three-car crash in Ovid

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on August 20th around noon, deputies responded to a three-car personal injury accident at the intersection of State Route 89 and County Rd. 139 in Ovid.

Deputies say a vehicle traveling south on State Route 89, operated by Amanda L. Marshall, 29, of Deleware struck a vehicle being operated by Stephan D. Houck, 70, of Brooklyn, New York, which was traveling west on County Rd. 139.

Houck’s vehicle failed to stop, and both collided as result and spun out of control.

Houck then collided with a third vehicle that was stopped at the stop sign on the West side of the intersection. The vehicle was being operated by Joseph W. Farrell, 67, of Beaver Dams.

Houcks’ vehicle suffered extensive damage to the passenger’s side and was towed from the scene, according to deputies.

Marshall complained of knee pain and was transported by South Seneca Ambulance to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment. His passenger, Elyssa M. Swern, 27, of New Jersey complained of chest pain and was also transported by South Seneca Ambulance to Cayuga Medical Center.

Marshalls vehicle suffered extensive damage and was also towed from the scene.

Houck was issued a ticket for failure to stop at a stop sign and will answer the charges at a later date.
