Cornell University students currently in Barcelona, Spain are safe and accounted for following a deadly terrorist attack in the city, the university says.
“Cornell University has been in contact with our students in the area and all are safe,” Senior Director of Communications John Carberry said.
ISIS has claimed responsibility for a the attack in which a white van jumped the sidewalk in Barcelona’s historic Las Ramblas district, swerving side to side as it plowed through a summer crowd of tourists and residents.
Catalan police have confirmed two arrests have been made in connection with the attack. Authorities denied media reports of a suspect holding hostages in a nearby bar.
