The heat is on for the Finger Lakes for the next two days.
A surprise shot of rain for a large part of the Finger Lakes late-Wednesday night provided some relief from the heat that has been present all week. While our official stretch of dry weather was broken last night, there are two solid days remaining in the forecast before things revert back to a cooler, wetter outlook.
Thursday will bring a risk for afternoon thunderstorms. Forecasters say that the best chance for storms in the Finger Lakes will be after 4 pm. Tonight the risk for showers or thunderstorms will be greatest before 1 am, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures will soar into the mid-80s for the region today, and it will feel a bit on the humid side, compared to how it’s felt in recent days.
Friday will be the change day that the region has been waiting on. While temperatures will rush into the mid-80s, with some locations getting into the upper-80s, according to the National Weather Service — the weather change that will be ushered in behind afternoon- and evening- thunderstorms will be significant.
This weekend, while off-and-on showers are expected throughout — temperatures will struggle to reach into the mid-70s.
