Fourth Democrat enters race to challenge Tom Reed in 23rd Congressional District

A fourth Democrat is seeking the party’s nomination to vie for the 23rd House seat occupied by incumbent Republican Tom Reed of Corning.

Eddie Sundquist, a native of Jamestown, Chautauqua County, made his campaign for the 23rd House seat official on Thursday.

While the election is not until November 2018, Democrats around the nation have begun lining up to run against congressional Republicans, especially in districts where the GOP may be potentially vulnerable.

Sundquist, 28, is a former educator who now works as an attorney in his hometown.

He said the 23rd District continues to be invisible both at the state and federal level. The 23rd includes the economically hard-hit counties of the Southern Tier, as well some of the Finger Lakes, including part of Ontario County and all of Yates and Seneca counties.
