GALLERY: Memorial Day program successful at Midlakes Primary School

On Thursday, May 25th Midlakes Primary School first graders remembered the men and women who died while serving in the country’s armed forces during its 30th Annual Memorial Day Program.

Students carried flags and flowers, presented the history of Memorial Day, and recited poems to honor our nation’s brave men and women. They also sang patriotic songs, including “This Land is Your Land,” “Grand Old Flag” and “God Bless the USA” accompanied by Mr. Jim Trowbridge and the Midlakes Intermediate School band.

Mrs. Susan Kellogg from the New York State Department of Veteran’s Affairs presented the Memorial Day Proclamation on behalf of Governor Andrew Cuomo. Mr. William Connolly, veteran and retired principal, and Mr. Mark Watts, veteran, United States Navy, were on hand to share words of remembrance in honor of local veterans.

This is a special annual event for Midlakes Primary School first graders and the families and friends of Phelps and Clifton Springs.
