Former Sterling Nature Center volunteers remembered with memorial grove

Sterling Nature Center Director Jim D’Angelo recalls those who spent some of their time on this earth helping with the center.

“There’s been a lot of people associated with the nature center who have passed away. Some people have given donations in memory of those people, but others used to volunteer or used to come and hike here,” D’Angelo said. “After 20 years you start noticing you’re losing some of your original friends.”

Those volunteers and others are being remembered through the area’s new memorial grove. The dedication ceremony for the grove was held Saturday morning with 22 people present.

A white swamp oak was planted in memory of community members who had worked with the center.
