Canines strut their stuff at Cayuga County AKC dog show

Dog breeding and handling is the pride of many canine enthusiasts, some of whom spend a large portion of their time on perfecting various techniques. And to become a professional dog handler, plenty of time and training is involved for both the canine and the person.

Aspiring handlers got the chance to show off their techniques Saturday during the annual Finger Lakes Kennel Club’s Sanctioned B All-breed Match Dog Show held at the Locke Fireman’s Fairgrounds.

Competitive canine events included all breeds and ages of the dogs as well as their handlers, with events being judged on the age and breed of the canine, how they respond to verbal commands, and the technique of the handler.
