The Brutus man, who was removed from the residential fire that happened on Thursday has died.
State Police say the man has not been identified, but after being transported to the hospital he was pronounced dead. The fire was reported and broke out at 10:49 am.
The fire appeared to have started in the back of the structure, which was a mobile home.
Crews from from Weedsport, Port Byron, Jordan, Elbridge and Sennett, along with Jordan Ambulance, state police and the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office were on scene as of noon contending with a fire at 17 Middle Dr.
Deputies say the home is located between Route 5 and East Brutus St. near the Elbridge border. The home is inside a mobile home community.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
