A Dundee man could be facing anywhere from 5 to 15 years in prison, if convicted on the charge that a grand jury leveled against him.
Charles Taylor, 25, of Dundee was charged with two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal injection of a narcotic drug, along with two misdemeanor charges of making a punishable false written statement. The 17-year-old Dundee teen died on November 8th, 2015. The official cause of death, according to authorities, was labeled as “acute heroin intoxication.”
Authorities around the state are working to address the growing heroin epidemic. One approach calls for harsher consequences for those who sell and move the drugs throughout the region. That said, a number of other methods have been discuss — including a radical concept discussed by Ithaca Mayor Syvante Myrick where “safe injection zones,” would be created.
In this case though, Taylor faces a number of years in prison — given that he now faces multiple felony charges.
An indictment handed down by a grand jury on September 1st resulted in additional felony charges separate from this set of charges. His next date in court was not outlined.
