At around 1 a.m. on Sept. 20, 2014, police pulled over 37-year-old Stephanie Sweeting on North Seneca Street in the village of Weedsport. Officers found that the former fugitive not only had two passengers in the car but 600 envelopes of heroin in the glove box.
According to Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann, Sweeting has had an extensive criminal history dating back to 2005 when she was charged with felony forgery and criminal possession of stolen property. Then, in 2008, Sweeting was charged with second-degree bail jumping in North Carolina. And in March 2011, she was returned to Cayuga County after being picked up at a traffic stop in North Carolina as one of Auburn's top 10 fugitives.
