A drag race has sent a Seneca County teenager to the hospital with serious injuries. The accident occured Friday night in the town of Fayette. Five new county supervisors and one former supervisor were elected to the Seneca County Board of Supervisors. A memorial to two murdered Geneva girls will be dedicated today. Ashley Vincent would have turned 16 years old today. Her grandparents, Nick and Beverly Marchinese, purchased land for the memorial park- including the spot on Patterson Avenue where Ashley’s body was found last March. The Geneva teenager that triggered a state-wide Amber Alert last month pleaded guilty Thursday morning to third-degree falsely reporting an incident. 16-year old Patricia Lynn Visco appeared in Geneva City Court with her parents and Attorney John Lorge of Canandaigua. Penn Yan firefighters remain at the scene of an early morning fire. Units were called to Morgan’s Grocery on Hamilton Street around 2am. The working structure fire brought mutual aid from Dundee, Dresden and Benton fire departments. No injuries have been reported. No word on what may have sparked the fire.   more

An Ontario County photorapher recently won $175,000 dollars in the state Mega Millions lottery drawing. 65-year old Daniel Nolan of Canadice brought the ticket on the way to the airport for a trip to the Caribbean. He discovered he won a week later when he returned home. The ticket -with one more matching number-would have been worth $42-million dollars.   more

A Wayne County doctor was the highest-paid local government employee in the Finger Lakes region last year, according to the Empire Center’s 2015 “What They Make” report.
