Drag Race Ends In Crash

A drag race has sent a Seneca County teenager to the hospital with serious injuries. The accident occured Friday night in the town of Fayette. Seneca County Sheriffs Deputies released details on the crash this morning. Witnesses at the scene say two cars were drag racing on Murray Road when one of the cars failed to stop at the intersection of Leader Road. The car struck several trees and caught on fire. 19-year old James Burlew of Fayette was pulled from the weckage by the driver of the other vehicle, and a friend that was watching the race from the roadside. Burlew was airlifted to Strong with a broken leg, collapsed lung and 2nd degree burns. The accident remains under investigation, charges are pending. Police have not identified the others involved in the accident.
