A flight from Ithaca headed to Dulles International Airport in Washington D.C. has been diverted to State College, Pennsylvania.
According to the United Airlines automated flight tracking system, the flight left Ithaca just before 3 p.m. Friday, and made an unexpected landing at University Park Airport just after 3:50 p.m.
According to the Executive Director at University Park, there was a fire warning in the tail section of the plane. The tail was checked out, and they found no problems.
The plane carrying 47 passengers and three crew members should leave University Park for Dulles at 6 p.m.
