City Manager Jeff Dygert has announced that Police Chief Shawn Butler has graduated from the Quantico, Virginia based FBI National Academy, a prestigious leadership course designed for law enforcement executives from around the world. Less than one percent of law enforcement executives in the world are afforded this opportunity.
“Chief Butler was one of two hundred and forty-nine enforcement officers that graduated from the National Academy during the 247th session. On behalf of our City organization we congratulate the Chief for this monumental accomplishment, stated City Manager Dygert.
The latest National Academy class included men and women from all fifty states, the District of Columbia, twenty-three international countries, five military organizations and seven federal civilian organizations.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the national Academy Program, held at the FBI academy, offers eleven weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
“Anyone that knows Chief Butler understands how dedicated he is to his profession and he is willing to work hard to succeed. This is a feather in the cap not only for the Chief but for the entire Auburn Police Department,” stated Mayor Michael D. Quill.
