Auburn police arrested two people involved in a domestic dispute as a result of actions by both while officers were on the scene investigating the case.
Officers arrived at 19 Franklin St., apartment 11 around 2:30 a.m. Sunday and hearD yelling from inside the building, according to an APD press release. One of the apartment’s residents, Julius McClary, 29, met officers as the top of a stair case and said he had been arguing with his girlfriend, Cierra Sanders, 21, who also lives there.
At that point, police said, Sanders began moving quickly toward McClary in a hallway while holding a knife in her right hand, which was raised above her head. She then tried to cut McClary, whose hands were up in a defensive position while stepping away from Sanders. An officer then grabbed Sanders’ arm and took her to the ground before placing her into custody.
As this was happening, McClary grabbed the arresting officer’s back to try to pull him off of Sanders. Another officer then pulled McClary back and placed him into custody.
Sanders was charged with second-degree attempted assault, a felony, along with misdemeanor charges of second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
