Weedsport man accused of high-speed chase throughout Cayuga County pleads not guilty

A Weedsport man state police said led them on a 15-mile high-speed chase through Cayuga County was arraigned on nearly 30 counts Tuesday in Cayuga County Court.

In August, Brandon Millhoff allegedly fled from state troopers as they attempted to pull his vehicle over to execute an arrest warrant. The chase began in Cato and ended just outside the city of Auburn when police called off the pursuit due to public safety concerns. During the chase, police said Millhoff struck three state police vehicles. No one was hurt.

Tuesday, Cayuga County Court Judge Mark Fandrich read off a laundry list of charges against Millhoff, including two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, two counts of second-degree criminal mischief and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, all felonies, 20 various misdemeanors and three traffic infractions. Millhoff pleaded not guilty to every count.

Following the chase, Millhoff was arrested in Skaneateles and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond. His attorneys, Rome Canzano and Ben Susman, asked the judge Tuesday to lower Millhoff’s bail, stating their client has ties to the community and has been incarcerated since he was arrested. Canzano requested bail be set at either $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond or $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
