An Auburn woman is facing criminal charges after allegedly stealing her neighbor's purse earlier this month, Auburn Police Department Deputy Police Chief Roger Anthony said.
Anthony said Jennifer L. Lakota, 29, 14 Seymour St., entered the front door of her neighbor's residence around 10 p.m. Sept. 1 and took a purse that was on the table. The purse had $365 in cash, a cell phone, a wallet, a checkbook, some cigarettes and some of the neighbor's personal papers.
Police arrested Lakota at her home Tuesday, Anthony said. Anthony said police did not recover the cash upon Lakota's arrest. Lakota was charged Tuesday with third-degree burglary, petit larceny and three counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and was arraigned at Auburn City Court that same day.
