Anthony Saccone requested to withdraw his plea deal during a court appearance on Monday.
Anthony Saccone, 30, of Camillus, pleaded guilty back in July to his role in the Feb. 23 crash that killed three people. Saccone was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, and driving at excessive speeds when he T-boned a Chevrolet Impala that was going through an intersection in Onondaga.
The Impala was carrying Samra Osmanovic, 20, Baylie Rose, 19, and Michael Walker, 18, all of whom were current or former students at Onondaga County Community College. All three were killed instantly in the crash.
Saccone’s charges carry a sentence of 10 to 30 years behind bars.
While out on bail in July, Saccone was arrested over the weekend of the Syracuse Nationals and charged with reckless driving. The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office said deputies who were patrolling Electronics Parkway Near Seventh North Street saw a 1983 Chevrolet Malibu performing a “burn out” around 2:03 a.m Sunday. Deputies were able to identify the man driving as Saccone. According to deputies, Saccone consumed alcohol while driving the vehicle.
After the arrest, a judge revoked Saccone’s bail and was to remain in jail until his trial later this year. Saccone’s attorney denied he was driving. His sentence could’ve been increased to 10 2/3 to 32 years in prison if that was the case.
