FOIL requests tell unique story in Geneva as controversy over Welcome Center grows

Over the weekend, the Geneva Believer posted a lengthy investigative piece on a series of FOIL requests to the City of Geneva regarding the true cost of the FLX Welcome Center located along Seneca Lake.

It started when NBC affliate WHEC-TV aired a segment featuring the results of an investigation into the cost of the new facility. In the segment, NYS Exposed: Contracts expose costs of FLX Welcome Center; $1,014 for a 10” frame, FOIL requests by reporters revealed the surprisingly large price tags of some of the upgrades at the center, including over $6,000 for two rest room signs and $3,000 for two smaller “Community Room” signs.
