In this red barn, Alice Globus and her team run Winky and Dutch, a company started by her father and uncles in 1987 in New York City.
“They were an inventor of one of the first panoramic cameras and you can actually see it at the George Eastman House Museum in Rochester,” explained Globus.
Six years ago, Globus moved the company to Port Byron — where it focuses on button production.
They produce nearly 100,000 a year.
But the goal was always to get into a huge retail store.
Alice says she has her son, Theodore’s baby clothes to thank for the product that got them noticed by Walmart- after she had to hand-wash all the buttons on them.
