A witness testified Thursday that an alcohol-fueled party Saturday afternoon was the starting ground for a fight that resulted in the death of one and manslaughter and assault charges against the other.
At a preliminary hearing in Lyons Town Court with Justice Phil DeSain presiding to determine whether a felony had been committed, Joseph Lampley said he was a witness to the alleged dispute between Martin Smallwood, 32, and Camilo “Milo” Robledo, 42, both of Lyons.
Robledo ultimately died from injuries connected to a fight that eventually broke out. The suspect, Martin Smallwood, 32, was charged with first-degree manslaughter and first-degree assault.
Assistant District Attorney Christine Callanan said the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Robledo died of “blunt force trauma.”
DeSain ultimately ruled that there was enough evidence to send the case to a Wayne County grand jury.
During testimony, Lampley said he was among several people drinking beer and gin on a third-story terrace at 43 Water St. Lampley said Smallwood and Robledo, whom he described as his friends, were at first “in a conversation” that apparently led to an argument and then a fight in the parking lot.
