Waterloo High School has had four principals in the past year.
No. 5 could be appointed at a special Board of Education meeting slated for 7:15 a.m. Monday in the district’s Washington Street offices.
The board met in special session early Thursday morning and went into executive session to discuss matters leading to the appointment of a particular person to the high school principal position. Board president Mike Shores said the board and Superintendent Terri Bavis examined the selection process used by a special search committee, along with terms of a contract and salary to offer.
Shores said a candidate has emerged, and that Bavis will recommend that person for appointment.
“We had 10 applicants and narrowed that to three finalists before choosing the one I will recommend for appointment,” Bavis said.
The school ended the 2016-17 school year with Susan Burgess as principal. She retired in June 2017 and was replaced on an interim basis by Mike Ferrara. The job was offered to Katharine Waite of Lima; after accepting the position, Waite changed course and decided to remain as assistant principal at Albion High School.
