New York State Police confirmed Friday that a trooper accidentally discharged a weapon during an hours-long standoff in Montezuma late last week.
On July 13, state police were called to 7391 Fuller Road after a resident, Joseph Wilmarth, made a threatening post on social media. At the time, officials said there was a Wayne County warrant for Wilmarth’s arrest as he had declared it was “well within (his) rights to put a bullet in the judges (sic) head,” in a Facebook post regarding a child custody dispute.
