Woman running from Boston to Sodus Point to help others fight breast cancer

On a hot day like Sunday, a lot of people were inside staying cool.

Not Davina McNaney. She was running.

“I thought going over the mountains were going to be the difficult point, but this heat is brutal,” she said.

McNaney conquered her fight with breast cancer and now she is running 380 miles to help others do the same.

Her journey began in Boston, where she now lives with her family. She has since passed through Albany and Utica on her way to her final destination and hometown — Sodus Point, in Wayne County.

Sunday marked day 10 of her journey, ending at Coleman’s Irish Pub in the Syracuse neighborhood of Tipp Hill.

“I really feel like research is important in saving people’s lives, and that’s why I’m doing this,” McNaney said. “That’s why I’m putting myself out there every single day.”
