Police investigating a pair of burglaries in Marcellus Tuesday apprehended the man believed to be responsible — and also arrested a driver who crashed into a police vehicle parked at the scene.
The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that at about 5:36 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a South Street home in the village of Marcellus after the homeowner discovered a broken window and a small amount of money missing. While deputies were conducting the investigation, a second burglary, which was reported to be in progress, was occurring at a residence located on Bradley Street.
Police said that additional deputies responded to that residence and discovered a broken living room window. Upon checking the interior of the house, deputies found Nicholas Olenych, 27, of Gifford Street, Syracuse, hiding in an upstairs closet.
