On Saturday afternoon at the northern tip of Seneca Lake – months of hard work paid off for organizers behind the Finger Lakes Pride Festival.
Held near the newly-opened FLX Welcome Center along State Route 5&20 – hundreds turned out to show their support, and learn about the LGBTQ+ community.
In an appearance on Inside the FLX earlier in the week, event organizer Chelsea Snyder said they were ready for a great turnout, and great weekend along Seneca Lake. “It’s a lot of work, but it’s really rewarding,” she said following her appearance on Inside the FLX previewing the festival. “We worked hard this year – listening to the feedback we received – getting venders, entertainment, and other logistical aspects of the festival updated.”
Beyond providing an opportunity to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community – it served as an educational opportunity. “A big part of what we do is bringing awareness about community services that exist in the Finger Lakes – while also providing a space for everyone to be themselves,” she added in the lead up to the festival.
